Rebecca had a wonderful birthday. Grandma from Montana came down as well as Aunt Elizabeth and cousin Kevin from Colorado. It was a short trip but it was so nice having them here.
We had a small party on Saturday the 23rd with just the family and a couple of close friends. We also went to Color Me Mine and painted some ceramics. Then we came home, BBQ'd, had cake and opened presents. She made out like a bandit in the gift department. Ha!
Yesterday was her actual birthday and I got to take cupcakes to her classroom to share with her class. It was so cute...they got in a circle and sang a cute version of Happy Birthday to her. She was in heaven! Then she wanted to order pizza for dinner and we had a leftover cupcake and sang to her again...well I did, Joe had to work late. We also went and got her a new movie with some money that Aunt Leslie gave her (Little Mermaid, Ariel's beginning). It was cute.

Well it's official...she's in Kindergarten. And as of Friday she'll be in K1 which is in between Kindergarten and 1st grade. They're advancing her because they're going over all the things she already learned in Pre-K. So the new class will actually challenge her and she'll learn something she doesn't already know.
She absolutely loves going to school though. She's going to bed on time and with no fights. She's taking her baths and not questioning us or trying to get out of it. She is still a sleepy head in the mornings and doesn't like getting up...always asking for 5 more minutes. LOL! We couldn't be more please with how things are going.

I'm going to the Dr. Phil show...

So, the Bakersfield Stay At Home Moms group is going to the taping of the Dr. Phil show and I'm super excited. The show is paying for the whole trip! They are sending out a bus to pick us all up and bring us back AND paying for daycare for all the moms who need it so that they can come too! We'll either be going on August 28th or 29th. Details are still coming in. What a nice surprise though. I guess one of the moms wrote to them and told them about our group of 120+ SAHM moms and they said 'Come on Down'....that's price it right huh? LOL! I'll keep you posted and of course take pictures. Thanks Alison for setting this up...not that you read my blog! Ha!

Not a lot going on...

We haven't been doing too much. It's been hot.

We're getting ready for school to start and Rebecca and I are both very excited. August 18th is her first day. She has really missed going to school this summer so she is ready. I've been having some fun school clothes shopping. I've been hitting up sales here and there and I think we've got about 10 outfits all for under $100. We still have shoes to get and that we'll go to Stride Rite and spare no expense for good shoes for her feet. Joe is funny about shoes and always wants her to have good ones. Has to do with him and his feet and leg problems he's had growing up. Once in a while I'll go to Payless to pick up a pair of sandals or flip flops. He usually doesn't notice when I do.

Also August 27th is her 5th birthday. We're having a very small party at the ceramic store on the 23rd. Her Grandma is coming in from Montana as well as her Aunt and cousin from Colorado. She has a couple of friends we've met here coming too. So we're going to be painting a ceramic, having cake and ice cream from Baskin Robins and we'll probably go out to dinner somewhere fun afterwards. Not big, but I think she'll enjoy it just the same. We're going to make up for the lack of friends with lots of presents though. And we all know that's really all that matters at the end of the day...presents!

Joe is enjoying his job out here. He's been working a lot. 7 days a week starting this week for who knows how long. The bummer with that is he's salary and doesn't get overtime. That sucks!!! Oh well. He's going to take some days off when his mom and sister gets here, so only a few more weeks for a day off.

He's still working on his CD with the studio. He's still looking for a singer. The studio had found one, and he was suppose to go in today and lay down some songs, but for some reason the guy double booked himself which really ticked off the studio and Joe. The studio is very busy and books things 3-4 weeks in advance so for this guy to not be able to show up and not call and tell them...sucks. So Joe found a guy out on his job site who gave him a demo cd of his songs. He sounded great and Joe is happy with him. So they are going to get together and work on the songs and then make the trip to the Studio soon to lay them down. Works for us too because Joe won't have to pay as much if any at all.

I've been meaning to post these for a while for Grandma and Grandpa Gairing. Thanks for the violin!!! She's got it down and sounds good for not knowing how to play. She takes after her dad and can play anything and be good at it. I'm looking for lessons for her. Enjoy!
